    PDS, Probe Deployment System, Borehole logging horizontal boreholes, Borehole logging upward boreholes. PDS: Probe Deployment System The PDS allows OPTV and BHTV imaging probes and certain other types of probe to be deployed in steeply inclined, horizontal or up-holes, where assistance from a drilling machine is required. It has been successfully used in boreholes exceeding 400 m in length. The main housing containing the probe is manufactured from aluminium and the standard kit includes 2 x 2 m aluminium rods to allow imaging probes to operate in non magnetically disturbed conditions. A variety of nose cones, adapted to different types of probe, and housing centraliser blades for boreholes of up to 150 mm diameter can be supplied. Behind the housing the logging cable runs along the outside of the drill rods (AQ or BQ recommended). The drill rod adapter incorporates a centraliser to support the weight of the drill string.     PDGC50, Photo-Electric density probe. PDGC50: Photo-Electric Density PDGC50 provides a classic triple-spacing sidewall focussed formation density measurement, with the additional advantage of a incorporating a photo-electric effect energy detection window on the medium-spacing detector. The photoelectric effect (Pe) measurement is a reliable indication of the apparent formation atomic number, meaning that formation lithology and an accurate porosity can often be deduced directly from the results given by the probe. When the Pe log results are combined with those obtained from other probes (eg. spectral gamma) a considerable number of specific « heavy » minerals can be identified. A gamma ray source (Cs137, typically 3.7 GBq), is fixed to the lower extremity of the probe during logging. The source capsule itself is supplied separately by a specialist partner. The mechanical side-walling arm provides a caliper measurement, useful for diameter correction purposes and mud-cake evaluation, and a natural gamma log is a lso obtained by means of a scintillation detector located in the uppermost part of the probe body.     The GYR38 is a gyroscopic bore deviation sensor specifically designed for demanding drilling and mining environments. GYR38 Gyroscopic Probe – Borehole Deviation Measurement GYR38 Gyroscopic Probe – Borehole Deviation Measurement A gyroscopic probe (or gyroscope) is a sensor that measures the rotational velocity of an object around an axis. It allows determining the orientation and angular movements of an object in space. These sensors are used in many applications, ranging from smartphones to ship stabilization systems. The GYR38 is a gyroscopic borehole deviation probe specifically designed for the demanding environments of drilling and mining operations. This north-seeking device (for probe inclination values between 3° and 177° from vertical) accurately provides continuous trajectory data in non-vertical boreholes. A north search time of only 2 minutes and a 60-minute measurement time between corrections help maximize operational efficiency. The GYR38 probe operates in wired mode via our proven eMindLogger acquisition unit. The borehole azimuth and inclination from the IMU are displayed in real time at the surface in our standard 6CH logging software.
